Finca Paraiso Verde : Costa Rica, Quepos

A beautiful 27 Hectare farm located 40 minutes outside of Quepos in Costa Rica. This farm has regenerated a parched cow pasture into a fully functioning multi species medicinal plant and food forest.  With the newly transformed Swimming pool to Natural Pool and the aspirations of a Biogas digester there are many great projects to get involved with.

Types of Work: Construction, Electric, Food Production, Planting, Harvest, Cooking, Medicinal product preparation.

Canary Farm: Canada, Nova Scotia


Canary Farm is offering a student internship/ work trade summer 2013 in order to further the establishment of the Permaculture Food Forest, Living Willow structures, and many other permaculture Projects.  Workers are given Permaculture and horticulture training and education that supplements their daily hands-on working requirement and experience.

The Permaculture Institute is offering a Student/ Wwoofing Program whereby wwoofers are given Permaculture and horticulture training and education that supplements their daily hands-on working requirement and experience.


Basic Information


  1. Accommodation: On-site caravans or camping.

  2. Bedding: We can hire you bedding. Cost $25 per week. Must be turned in for washing once a week. We encourage you to BRING YOUR OWN bedding, including a pillow and towel.

  3. Camping Equipment: Tents and sleeping bags available. Cost $25 per week.

  4. Food:Staff, students and wwoofers have the use of a covered outdoor kitchen and dinning area with food available for self-catering three meals a day plus tea or coffee during breaks. There are no pre-made cakes, biscuits or other goodies provided. Attendants are free to cook what they like after working hours.  The kitchen is stocked with plenty of mixed-diet foods. At this time the Mollisons are not taking their meals in the camp kitchen.

  5. Hands-on practical work time: From 7:30 - 5:00 that includes 6 hours of work and 1 hour of teaching. This can vary according to the seasons.

  6. Internet: Wireless. Free

  7. Laundry: washing machine, outdoor clothesline.

  8. Maximum Stay: Three months.

  9. Minimum Stay: one week. No exceptions

  10. Toilets: Outdoor composting toilets.

  11. Showers: Hot showers.

Our Requirements - Please Read - This is Important

  1. You must arrive on a “start date” as listed in the calendar between the hours of noon and 5.00 pm. Due to health and safety reasons - failure to arrive on the designated start date and time will mean you will not be allowed to stay

  2. All forms need to be completed, received and approved. Before your arrival

  3. Good attitude, easy going and willing to work according to instructions

  4. Have current tetanus immunisation. Before your arrival

  5. Stamina and endurance

  6. Telephone interview conducted

  7. Written or verbal acceptance into program for the specified time. Before your arrival

  8. You must have a valid wwoofing membership before your arrival.

What to Bring

  1. Gloves: Good quality, rugged gloves – rubberised combined with cloth style are recommend and we recommend you have a minimum of two pairs to use.

  2. Headlamp with batteries

  3. Current passport with valid Australian visa (or printout if electronic).  Which you allow us to photocopy and keep the photocopy.

  4. Personal toiletries

  5. Pillow

  6. Sleeping bag (if not hiring).

  7. Specialised dietary requirements and foods.

  8. Sturdy shoes which are comfortable and weather proof.

  9. Sturdy, durable, protective clothing.

  10. Suitable farm attire.

  11. Sun hat and rain hat.

  12. Sunscreen.

  13. Towel.

  14. Warm woollen hats and clothes for cold weather.

  15. Wet weather gear.

What you need to know

  1. Animals may be killed on site for food or vermin control.

  2. Food is from mixed sources. Not all from the property and not all of it is organic.

  3. There are safety and other inductions which will be presented upon arrival. The contents of which you must agree with and adhere to.

  4. There is no daily trip to town. A weekly trip may be organised.
